explore new skills at our

Events

We've been running glorious events since 2017, starting with the Great Scottish Spoon Hoolie and now extending to a whole host of opportunities to explore traditional crafts and learn new skills. These events are small-but-perfectly formed intimate affairs, where participants get to take part in a range of activities, eat locally-sourced food cooked over the fire, and have loads of fun. We also invite the best trainers from wherever we can find them to share their craft.

Whether you’re an expert or a complete beginner, you'll learn new skills, hone existing ones, or gain the techniques you need to move on in our crafting journey.

Our 2024 event season looks like this:

  • 15-17 March: The Great Scottish Coppice Gathering, where you can learn all about the ancient methods of coppicing and related coppice crafts.

  • 17-19 May: The Great Scottish Spoon Hoolie, our flagship event, bringing spooners together in the woods.

  • 21-23 June: The Great Scottish FacalFest, a brand new event build around word-based crafts, from storytelling to printing.

  • 16-19 August: The Great Scottish Craft Hoolie, bringing a wide range of traditional craft workshops into one weekend.

  • 18-20 October: The Great Scottish FireFest, a celebration of fire-based crafts and all things flame-y!
